Riccardo Cordero

Born in 1942 in Alba, Cuneo province, Italy.
Presently living and working in Turin, Italy. In 1963 he graduated “with honors” in Sculpture at the Albertina Fine Arts Academy in Turin, where he taught afterwards, at first in the Art High School and later on, up to 2001, as holder of the chair in the School of Sculpture.

He worked as a sculptor in Argentina, Brazil, China, France, Iraq, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay and the United States.

Since 1960 he has been invited to important national and international art exhibitions while in 1978he held a solo show at the XLIX Venice Biennale and in 2005 his artworks were at the XIV Quadrennial in Rome, Italy.

Among his closer and late collaborations are: Fondazione Copernico, Milan; Fondazione Materima, Casalbeltrame, Novara, Italy; Shanghai Sculpture Park, China; Galerie Werner Wohlhüter, Leibertingen, Germany and Die Galerie, Frankfurt, Germany.

He won many international sculpture competitions and created many monumental artworks. Among the many we remember:
in Turin, Italy (Disarticolare un cerchio at Modern Art Gallery and Chakra in Piazza Galimberti).

Since 2005 to nowadays, he has been invited to China to create monumental works in public and private spaces in the following cities: Shanghai, Taiwan, Wuhu, Beijing, Hainingand Zhengzhou.

In 2021, he was among the winners of the international competition launched in Beijing, on the occasion of the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, with the monumental sculpture New ET, (17 meters high), and was guest participating at the 1st International Biennial of Art in Macao (China)

• 2001 – Cordero, King, Venet – Museum of the Automobile, Turin;
• 2006 – The traveling anthology Riccardo Cordero, works from 1960-2006 organized by Piedmont Region in the Sala Bolaffi in Turin, then moved to Spain and South America at Museo Universidad of Alicante, Spain; Municipalidad of Montevideo, Uruguay; Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Fundacao Memorial de America Latina, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
